The City of Newark, New Jersey, agreed to pay $3.1 million to the decedents of a woman who drowned after her vehicle left a roadway and plunged into the Passaic River. Gomez LLC filed suit on behalf of one decedent plaintiff alleging that the City had prior knowledge that a dangerous condition existed at the roadway in question from prior accidents that occurred but the City failed to take any steps to eliminate or reduce the danger. See David Basilio et al. v. City of Newark, Docket No. ESX-L-5610-06 (Superior Court of New Jersey, Essex County).
